Well, this story here is very unusual (ingenious!) and I thought for sure that it was of the paranormal genre. Later on I discovered it is more of angst type. Probably one of the firsts of its kind that I read *shoulder shrug, but that doesn’t really take away any of its charm. 

The story is about Zip (girl from the small town who is great in sports, great in academics and has her own circle of true friends) who meets transferee Kieran (who suffers from narcolepsy). The story is mostly focused on the development of their budding relationship with a background of Kieran’s mystery illness and family history. Not much but hey! its nice.

This is very reality based and could be very well attested by research from the narcolepsy to the basketball sport. The characters though are flat, and details are spoon fed but I do appreciate their personalities, they are so cute! 

The development of romance and plot are pretty slow and to think that I am almost three-fourths of the book when the story started picking up to the action part. There was no thrill of sorts that make your heart go pound. The thought of ‘what could happen next?’ Or ‘what would the story twist into?’ didn’t even cross my mind. The book just held onto my curiosity to finish without tickling my brain into action or my heart into feeling. The plus side is that I got to finish the story without stopping and did not expect anything so I wasn’t disappointed in everything.

The story is also very straightforward. There is also the part where there is no force that disrupts the romance. Hahaha. Yeah sorta weird read in a good way in the sense that most of the books under YA (but not all!) revolve around forbidden love and love quarrels so this is a breath of fresh air. 

Recommended for those who want a break from most mainstream plot developments, this one’s a keeper to keep calm from cliffhangers. Good reading everyone. 🙂

This book is absolutely a very nice read. Highly recommended to people who love the young adult genre (especially those who love men on horseback, swords, monarchy, royal bloodlines and land feuds), and those of fantasy type ( see magical abilities and skills that show up at maturation and soul mate bonds). I seriously suggest that you put this on your to-be-read collection.

Let me just say that the introduction (chapter 1 UGH) might be a bit boring but please bear with me and believe that when I say that it all comes together in chapter two. Later I realized that this and the sentences following were all because I skipped the first book, silly me *face-palm. The preamble of introducing a new setting, type of people who are way different than us earthlings and ever present dilemma may be a bit of a boring history lecture but please oh please do not skip this part, MOST ESPECIALLY if you had skipped the first book because this is very important in understanding the story, and did I mention that the classifications of people are a bit confusing? Yeah that’s why I told you not to skip the boring part.

The whole story revolves about Hope, the twin who was hidden away from the knowledge of her mother and sister by their father who has the prophetic ability all for the betterment of everyone (he sees the bigger picture, LITERALLY). Her father also prophesied a vision, including a meeting with a protector (one of the terms you need to familiarize, I’ ll leave the others for you to discover *wink wink) but left out one very important fact. The said protector is her mate! Now trouble toils as an agreement is accidentally screwed, attitudes turned around 180 degrees (well not really but close enough!) and a sweet-but-not-sappy love story with a side dish of adventure is formed as this pair tackle everything that comes their way and witness the complete rising of their growing romance.

Let me just emphasize that I truly LOVE this book! Bravo to Miss Author Joanne Wadsworth you have made my back teeth ache with the gushing romance of this developing lovers without being too much on the silly romantic cliches. Uh huh let me say that again that there are no silly romantic cliches here but this is sure to make your heart go boom boom with all the love feelings people! And to put down this book (what book?! Kindle on phone please!) is a battle of wills. I truly spent time trying to weigh the decision of going to the loo with or without my phone just to continue reading (sorry, there’s just some sacrifices meant to be done for the sake of reading a good book! Only few will understand!). And the characters are so super real, and the personality each and everyone of them possess are maintained consistent throughout the book! And please do pet me appreciate the story progress, One would never forget the feeling of the elusive thing, that the very important clue, the prime ingredient to unravel the whole thing, is at the edge of every paragraph. A different refreshing kind of read guys I truly really madly and deeply encourage everyone to read this stuff. This one’s a true book for keeps.
